Jedediah took the glass, swirling the wine, tasting it lightly. He was still getting used to the Roman customs, as Octavius was getting used to the Western customs.

"A gift?" Jed repeated, looking confused. "Ta who?"

001. SmileI always loved that smile. He'd grin at me from across the West, those bright teeth shining like white marbles in his mouth. I'd remember the feel of running my tongue over those teeth and I'd smile, too. My smile would make him smile bigger, and from that I would smile more as well. It was a chain reaction of smiles, always getting bigger and bigger as the moments tore on. Just his smell would make me smile, sometimes, and he to mine, I imagine. I wonder, though.
